1. Large sprue mold
The runners and gates of the large sprue mold are located on the parting line and are demolded together with the product when the mold is opened. This design is relatively simple, easy to process, and low in cost, so many motorcycle plastic parts manufacturers use large sprue systems for production.
2. Fine sprue mold
The runners and gates of the fine sprue mold are not on the parting line, and are usually designed directly on the product, so an additional set of sprue parting lines needs to be designed. This makes the design of the fine sprue mold relatively complex and difficult to process. Usually, whether to use the fine sprue system is selected according to the specific requirements of the product.
3. Hot runner mold
The structure of the hot runner mold is similar to that of the fine sprue mold. The biggest difference is that the runner is located in one or more constant temperature hot runner plates and hot sprues. This mold does not require cold material demolding, and the runners and gates are designed directly on the product, so that the runner does not need to be demolded. The hot runner system is also called the gateless system. It can save raw materials and is suitable for situations where the raw material cost is high or the product quality requirements are high. Although the design and processing are difficult and the mold cost is relatively high, it has significant advantages in improving production efficiency and product quality.
The hot runner system is generally composed of a hot sprue sleeve, a hot runner plate and a temperature control electric box. Common hot runner systems are single-point hot sprue and multi-point hot sprue. The single-point hot sprue uses a single hot sprue sleeve to inject the molten plastic directly into the cavity, which is suitable for plastic molds with a single cavity and a single gate; while the multi-point hot sprue distributes the molten material to multiple hot sprue sleeves through the hot sprue plate, and then enters the cavity, which is suitable for single-cavity multi-point feeding or multi-cavity molds.
